Voici donc le premier volume de la trilogie Bootleg is Resistance, c'est un triple album composé entièrement de mashups faits à partir de morceaux de l'album Year Zero par Nine Inch Nails, qui sont mélangés à des morceaux souvent complètement étrangers. Ce premier volume contient des mashups (ou bootlegs si vous préférez) où vous entendrez Trent Reznor chanter sur des morceaux d'autres artistes voire parfois les siens.

I think I ran out of Flux bootlegs ideas to test now. Anyway, here are small things I've done lately. Don't forget to listen to my "Best of 2007" radio show this friday night on Maxxhits Bootlegs, for a few surprises and more original tracks than usual (it's not a best of bootlegs) plus me talking short bits (unfortunately it's in french).

You can guess I'm pretty much working on NIN material right now. As the official "Remix NIN" website opened recently featuring new rare tracks and especially instrumental versions of The Downward Spiral among others, I allowed myself to use some of these and put Daft Punk over the ultraviolent track Heresy (this one is gonna rock the batcaves' dancefloors ^^). I also put my NIN triple self mashup from With Boots on the website and it's been received really fantastically (on top of that, Trent Reznor himself rated my mashup with a high and flattering score), which pushed me to do another NIN self mashup, right here as an exclusive track from the upcoming Bootleg is Resistance. In this bunch of boots, I also mixed Bloc Party's Flux with Roni Size and AYO Technology over some Placebo.

Au vu de la proportion de NIN dans ces 4 mashups, on peut deviner que je bosse beaucoup sur NIN en ce moment (pour Bootleg is Resistance bien évidemment). Comme le site "Remix NIN" a ouvert récemment avec de nouvelles raretés et particulièrement les instrumentaux de The Downward Spiral parmi d'autres, je me suis permis de coller un acapella de Daft Punk sur l'ultraviolente Heresy (un truc à retrouver les dancefloors des batcaves ^^). J'ai aussi uploadé sur Remix NIN mon triple mashup issu de With Boots et il a été reçu excellemment par la communauté des fans et remixeurs inscrits là-bas (la cerise sur le gâteau étant que Trent Reznor lui-même a noté mon mashup de façon très flatteuse), ce qui m'a poussé à faire un nouvel "auto-mashup" de NIN, que je vous présente ici-même en tant qu'une exclusivité de Bootleg is Resistance. Dans cette série, j'ai aussi mélangé Flux de Bloc Party avec Roni Size ainsi qu'AYO Technology avec un morceau de Placebo.

Here's another small series of bootlegs I made during last month and just recently for some of them. The associations just talk by themselves I think. On the other hand, I keep on doing boots for various projects including "Bootleg is Resistance" which is planned to be released as a triple mashup album, in early 2008 I hope. One other thing, don't miss my first long mix (one hour) which will be aired on Maxxhits Bootlegs web radio this Monday 29/10 at 9PM (French time GMT+1, re-run at 10AM the next day), in which you'll be able to hear a bunch of exclusive tracks.

Il se trouve que l'hébergement de fichiers chez Free est de plus en plus moyen et limité, sauf pour les abonnés Free en France (qui sont sûrement minoritaires dans ceux qui téléchargent mes bootlegs). J'ai donc décidé d'adopter un hébergement alternatif digne de ce nom, peut-être connaissez-vous déjà MediaFire. S'y trouvent donc l'intégrale de mes bootlegs (~180) triés par années ou par albums.

I happened to learn that my bootlegs are not easily downloadable quickly from the place where they lay right now. That's why I chose another place where anyone in the world would be able to download them at a decent speed. You can find there all of my boots since 2005 (~180), filed by year or album.

As usual these days, I made like twice the quantity of bootlegs you can see here (for various reasons and projects). I'm quite proud of these ones, especially Indeep vs. Blur (for which I seem to be the first having the idea) and the Duran Duran one (which is quite obvious too including T. Rex). Also notice that from now on, I'm gonna post every of my bootlegs on Mediafire for those who think that downloading process was taking too long.

Comme d'habitude en ce moment, j'ai dû produire deux fois plus de bootlegs que ce que vous pouvez voir ici (pour diverses raisons et projets). Je suis plutôt content de ceux-là, pariculièrement du Blur vs. Indeep (qui, à ma connaissance, n'a jamais été fait) et celui avec Duran Duran (avec T. Rex, plutôt évident mais il fallait le faire). A partir de maintenant, je posterai aussi sur Mediafire pour ceux qui trouvent que le téléchargement chez Free est trop lent.

Encore un titre prétentieux pour une série de bootleg ressemblant au train de votre enfance qui pouvait en cacher un autre (pour faire clair, derrière cette relative prolifération, il y a encore pas mal d'inédits pour différents projets plus ou moins secrets). Sinon, on reste dans une veine bien rock 'n' roll avec Placebo et Queens of the Stone Age; il y a aussi un bootleg avec Grandpamini au chant (il chante dans Goto X) qui sera joué live à la prochaine soirée Bootie pour le Mashup Show; et un dernier, une blague potache entre les Choristes et Linkin Park: comme je n'aime pas vraiment les deux morceaux que j'ai mélangés là, il n'était pas dans mon précédent post. :p

Back again with another pretentious post title, right there is a small bunch of bootlegs which hides another bunch of unreleased bootlegs made for various projects (of my own or not). Still into a rock 'n' roll mood with Placebo and Queens of the Stone Age, there's also a bootleg with Grandpamini's vocals (singer of Goto X), which will be performed live during next Bootie Paris for the Mashup Show. And a final one, kind of a joke between the well known song from the french movie "The Chorus" and Linkin Park ; I don't like either of the songs involved, which is why it didn't make the previous post. :p

Ca faisait longtemps (si on se place dans mon échelle de temps). Voici une bonne petite tournée de boots bien rock 'n' roll et ça fait du bien de sortir ce genre de boots... et d'en écouter aussi. Si vous ne voulez pas vous spoiler le dernier single des Hives avec mon mashup, abstenez-vous de l'écouter pour l'instant. ;)

Deuxième chose, en tombant sur un groupe qui m'a plu sur MySpace, j'ai pu avoir l'honneur de jouer avec deux acapellas qu'ils m'ont gracieusement fournis. Le groupe s'appelle Juge Fulton, ils sortent leur album dans un mois et j'aime bien (sinon, je leur aurais jamais demandé des acapellas).

It's been a while (well... in my timescale). Here's a finely preparely of rock 'n' roll boots and it's good to put out that kind of mashup... and listen to it also. If you don't want to spoil yourself last Hives' single while listening to my mashup, just listen to it yet. ;)

One other thing, I've made two mashups featuring a french punk band I stumbled on (MySpace), they're called Juge Fulton but you might not care as they sing in french... or maybe you will (I hope so ^^).

Récemment, je suis passé sur deux média qui sont tout les deux importants chacun à leur niveau. Hier lundi 25/06, DJ Zebra a passé mon mashup dans l'émission Tendances Musique de Laurent Lavige sur France Inter -- et je ne saurais trop le remercier pour ça. Vous pouvez le télécharger à suivre de même que le mashup entre Coldplay et Bloc Party qu'a diffusé le plus gros magazine online sur la musique indépendante en général, j'ai nommé Pitchfork Media (merci à 2goldfish de Fluctuat pour me l'avoir signalé).

Recently, my mashups appeared on two different media which are both very important in their own category. Yesterday, the 25t, DJ Zebra aired one of my mashups into a radio show on the national radio, France Inter -- I can't thank him enough for that. You can download it just above as well as the mashup between Bloc Party and Coldplay that Pitchfork Media posted.

Vous connaissez déjà la raison de l'inhabituel tarissement des mises à jour de mon site, vu qu'en plus Bootleg is Resistance sera un album double (32 morceaux prévus sans compter les bonus tracks ^^), je suis encore plus occupé que vous ne pouvez vous l'imaginer. Donc, voici un morceau issu de cet album, et avec ça 3 mashups faits récemment dans un élan d'inspiration mal contrôlé. Je suis spécialement fier de celui qui mélange le dernier single de Timbaland et "Simple Man" par Lynyrd Skynyrd (je suis sûr que vous connaissez ce dernier morceau sans le savoir).

You already know the reason why I'm not posting new stuff as often as before, it's also because Bootleg is Resistance will be a double album (32 mashups + the bonus tracks ^^), that's why I'm even more busy than you can think. Ça faisait longtemps que je n'avais rien posté (un mois), voici 4 mashups, 2 vraiment nouveaux et 2 idées jamais sorties que j'ai améliorées et terminées ; un autre attend de sortir sur la prochaine compilation de Mashup Industries. Voici quelques nouveaux mashups qui s'ajoutent au premier dont un autre avec LCD Soundsystem. Je m'amuse rarement avec plus de 2 éléments mais cette fois-ci, je suis monté à 4 puis 3. :)

Here are a small bunch of new mashups that add to the first one I made a few weeks ago, especially one other featuring LCD Soundsystem. I rarely play with more than 2 elements in my mixes but this time I mixed 4 different tracks in to one (3 for the new mashup). :)

Deux mashups moins importants avec les deux singles bien connus de Nelly Furtado mélangés dans un sens puis dans l'autre. Et aussi un mashup avec Mika et DJ Mehdi, ainsi que TTC sur Birdy Nam Nam.

Pour un DJ set jeudi, j'ai fait 5 mashups en tout dont 2 qui n'étaient pas mes idées originales. Ces quelques mashups sont assez singuliers, plutôt bourrins, il y en a notamment 2 avec des morceaux du prochain Nine Inch Nails (qui sont d'ailleurs un peu faciles dans le choix des éléments).

Especially for a DJ set last thursday, I made 5 mashups (2 of them are not my original idea). This small bunch of mashups is quite peculiar, rather violent. And 2 of them are featuring tracks from Nine Inch Nails' next album (these 2 are not very original in the choice the acapellas but still worth a listen I think).

Cela fait maintenant un moment que je me suis lancé sur ce projet d'album. Contrairement aux deux premiers, qui sont consacrés à l'album d'un groupe, cet album tourne autour d'un concept dans lequel je retourne le processus habituel de fabrication des mashups - très souvent un mashup consiste à coller un acapella de hip hop ou de RnB sur un morceau de rock récent ou un classique -. Agissant à l'inverse de cette habitude (qui est en fait le résultat d'une contrainte), les mashups sur cet album sont donc constitués d'un acapella de rock collés sur un instrumental de hip hop voire de musique électronique. Parfois, c'est simplement le négatif d'un mashup que j'avais déjà fait mais la plupart sont des idées complètement originales. Plus de détails sur la page dédiée. This has been quite a long time since I decided to make this mashup album. Contrary to the first two ones, I started from a concept which is basically taking backwards the usual process of making a mashup - which consists most often in taking a hip hop or RnB acapella in order to put it over a rock standard or and hype band's new sensation single -. The mashups in this album are basically rock acapellas over hip hop or electronic instrumental tracks. Sometimes it's just the negative side of a mashup I already made but most of the time, the idea is completely original. More details on the dedicated webpage. Déjà un mashup avec un morceau du prochain album de Air, Pocket Symphony, qui n'est pas encore sorti (façon de parler) mais que je trouve (déjà) excellent. Dans ce mashup, je leur ai fait rencontrer les B52's.

Already, a mashup featuring a track from Air's next album, Pocket Symphony, which is not yet released (in a manner of speaking). I didn't wait to consider this album is simply excellent. In this mashup, Air are meeting some members of B52's.
